Located on five acres directly on the shores of Tomales Bay, the Tomales Bay Resort has evolved through several identities since its founding in 1950. From the soda fountain days of the 50's, to the "Boatel" in the 60's, and the "lava lamp" fascination in the 70's, the Resort has changed with the times and has never lost its simple charm. Once named after Sir Francis Drake's ship, the Golden Hinde (read about its history here), in 2005 this historic Marin destination was renovated and earned its resort name by the current owners.
Today, the Tomales Bay Resort offers Point Reyes destination accommodations for all vacationers. On-site activities include our solar-heated swimming pool (seasonal), kayak rentals, and a boat launch. Private sandy beaches on Tomales Bay offer instant access to bay waters. The Resort is an ideal location from which to discover all that the Point Reyes National Seashore and neighboring Wine Country and San Francisco have to offer. Onsite destination weddings and conferences are popular here as are the numerous adventures found within the Park such as hiking, biking, horse riding, kayaking and more!
The Resort strives to do our share to reduce our carbon footprint by offering electric vehicle charging stations and by running the Resort on solar power. The Resort is a Certified Marin County Green Business.
